Overview
This Advanced cultural learning and participation officer apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 14/02/2019 and typically takes 15 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
Cultural learning and participation officers are involved in the planning, organising and coordination of artistic and cultural education workshops and community engagement projects. This includes creative courses, performances, events, festivals, visits and digital activities. These activities aim to engage diverse audiences, including children, young people, vulnerable adults and pensioners.
These activities aim to improve community engagement through promoting skills development, social inclusion and wellbeing. Arts and culture activities help to enhance learning in broader areas such as communication, teamwork, empathy and resilience.
A cultural learning and participation officer will undertake research, design, implement and coordinate the activity in an accessible and appropriate manner for the participants involved. You will be required to consider cultural differences, and how to overcome barriers that hinder inclusion, to ensure optimum engagement. It is also essential to comply with up to date safeguarding and data protection regulations.
Arts and cultural organisations, including galleries, museums, theatres, dance companies, art centres and local authorities are the leading employers of cultural learning and participation officers.
You may work independently, as part of a team or alongside other professionals such as curators, designers, conservators and mental health practitioners.
