Overview

Approved for delivery on the 24/09/2018, the cyber security technical professional (integrated degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 48 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Cyber security technical professionals operate across a range of both public and private sectors, including critical national infrastructures such as energy, transport, water and finance. They will lead teams which are involved in the research, analysis, modelling, assessment and management of cyber security risks.

Cyber security technical professionals design, develop, manage and operate secure systems. They play a key role in detecting and responding to security breaches or incidents. It is essential to work in accordance with applicable laws, regulation, company standards and ethics.

You will develop strong technical knowledge and understanding of the foundations of cyber security and its significance. This includes competency in designing, configuring, optimising, testing and troubleshooting of both simple and complex networks.

Alongside technical ability, cyber security technical professionals will also develop interpersonal and business skills. In particular, you will get the chance to develop communicative skills by delivering engaging, well-structured presentations. Leadership and management abilities are also emphasised, such as the ability to identify the strengths, weaknesses and motivations of others in your team and understand how to apply these insights to help your team members reach their full potential.
