Overview

Approved for delivery on the 23/03/2016, the data analyst, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 4, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

The primary purpose of this apprenticeship standard is to develop diverse skills and specialist knowledge to collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. Typical duties include obtaining, managing, cleansing, compiling and conducting a range of analytical studies on the data. You will build an understanding of data structures, database systems and the range of analytical tools used to undertake different types of statistical analysis.

Alongside the collecting and analysing of datasets, you will report results and make recommendations to improve business performance to senior members of your organisation. This will require excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and confidence.

Data analysts are employed across a range of sectors, including finance, retail, healthcare and leisure as well as the government and local authorities. The work and insights you provide will help to improve business output. Data analysts are typically office-based and should expect to work with a team of people, often under the supervision of the data manager. There are also remote and work-from-home opportunities available, with all necessary equipment usually provided by your organisation.
