Overview

The data scientist (integrated degree) was approved for delivery on 17/08/2018. This Degree apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 6, integrated degree qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 36 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Data science is a rapidly growing field which spans from math and statistics to software engineering and communications. The purpose of this apprenticeship standard is to develop specialist skills and knowledge in data science, including sourcing and manipulating data, engineering data processes, and making evidence-based recommendations.

You will be inquisitive with excellent logical and creative thinking skills. Using a scientific approach, you will perform statistical analysis, build and validate models based on data, and use tools to implement data solutions. The insights gathered from data analyses should be communicated to senior members of your organisations to help an informed approach to improvements and changes that will help to improve business performance. You will manage your time and work independently to perform all key responsibilities and duties effectively.

Data scientists work in all sectors, both public and private, and often work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with experts in data analysis, data engineering and wider technology professionals. You will also be encouraged to engage with the broader data science community to share ideas, techniques and experiences.
