Overview

Approved for delivery on the 26/03/2015, the dental practice manager, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 4, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

The purpose of this apprentice standard is to gain the knowledge, skills and experiences to manage a dental surgery efficiently. You will be responsible for managing all non-clinical aspect within the practice. This includes knowledge and management of human resources, recruitment, customer service standards, patient records and databases, risk management, finance and health and safety regulations.

A dental practice manager is required to lead a diverse team of people in all non-clinical matters. This will include motivating the practice team, setting clear goals and expectations, ensuring all members understand the organisation’s vision and providing mentoring and feedback.

You will develop a broad skillset with a focus on excellent leadership abilities. In particular, you will learn to communicate effectively and professionally with your team and other stakeholders, treat all colleagues equally and fairly and lead by example.

A dental practice manager must demonstrate a commitment to the General Dental Council Standards for the Dental Team. It is essential to follow all ethical regulations, and ensure high-quality patient care is of top priority for you and all your team members.
