Overview
The engineering technician was approved for delivery on 31/03/2017. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 42 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Engineering technicians predominantly work in Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Maritime Defence and wider Advanced Manufacturing industries. Engineering technicians are highly skilled professionals that carry out intricate engineering work.
You will make a technical contribution to the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, systems, processes or services. Engineer manufactured products an engineering technician may work on involve mechanical, electrical, electromechanical and fluid power components.
Duties undertaken by an Engineering technician include applying safe systems of working; using proven techniques and procedures to solve novel engineering or manufacturing problems; demonstrating effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information and committing to continued professional development.
You will take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the jobs you undertake and be willing to contribute to wider business development and strategy. This apprenticeship standard allows for professional recognition by an appropriate body at the level of Engineering Technician.
