Overview

The express delivery operative was approved for delivery on 17/08/2018. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Express delivery operatives use world-class equipment and software to provide timed deliveries and collections to homes and businesses. You will have a high level of individual responsibility for your working day and delivery route.

Express delivery drivers may work on foot using trolleys or drive a vehicle such as a bicycle, motorbike, van or lorry. For this reason, having a valid UK driving license may be a requirement set by the employer.

You will provide high-quality customer service, which may include dealing with complaints, assisting with the installation of electrical goods, and providing real-time tracking of deliveries. You will maintain excellent communication throughout the delivery chain stretching from the collection of goods to the end delivery point; this could include appropriately handling failed deliveries, mistakes or any other issues that arise.

The skills and competencies you will develop to achieve a successful career as an express deliver operative include, communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of how to comply with up-to-date health and safety regulations and how to manage your schedule effectively.
