Overview

Approved for delivery on the 28/11/2016, the financial advisor, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 4, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Financial advisors provide their clients with specialist advice on how to manage their money and finances. You may be employed in a large company, such as a bank, or within a specialist advisory business, including public sector organisations.

The role involves building long term relationships with the client, researching the marketplace and recommending the most appropriate services available. Financial advisers may specialise in particular products, depending on their clients; you may sell employee pension schemes to businesses or offer mortgage, pension or investment advice to private clients.

Financial advisers work in a highly regulated environment; to provide financial advice, you must gain the necessary professional qualifications and demonstrate a high degree of integrity, adherence to a code of ethics and be committed to maintaining professional development and knowledge. This apprenticeship standard involves passing a Financial Conduct Authority qualification followed by professional recognition by a relevant body, such as The Chartered Insurance Institute, The London Institute of Banking and Finance or The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
