Overview
The fire emergency and security systems technician was approved for delivery on 19/08/2016. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 36 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Fire emergency and security systems technicians develop, install, commission, maintain and repair electronic security systems. These systems intend to protect businesses, homes and other properties from risks and emergencies such as fires or break-ins.
You will develop technical skills in the interconnection of equipment, programming, verifying performance, identifying faults, and equipment testing. Fire emergency and security systems technicians take a professional approach to work, must deliver high-quality customer service, dress presentably and are respectful to those they interact with. You will often be working inside or outside of a customer’s home or a business premise.
You may work independently or as part of a team to ensure the correct installation and maintenance of a security protection system. You must meet the professional industry standards, often without any supervision, in a safe, efficient and economical manner to minimise waste.
