Working on a fitted furniture interior project from the design conception stage through to completion.
Overview
This Advanced fitted furniture design technician apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 23/08/2019 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
The general role of a Fitted furniture design technician is to form ideas, design concepts and plans for fitted furniture interiors, then develop these into technical drawings created by hand or computer. This includes fitted kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, car interiors, boats and ships. You will manage the project from the concept stage through to completion.
You will work closely alongside customers to create their perfect design for their chosen interior, offering innovative and creative solutions to meet your client’s needs. Fitted furniture design technicians often work on bespoke one-off commercial developments such as restaurants, hotels, bars, offices and leisure centre projects.
You will develop a strong understanding of industry-specific legislation, and knowledge of products and materials typically available to create interiors. You will work safely at all times, ensuring to follow relevant health and safety regulations. Daily work involves interacting with a range of people, including managers, sales colleagues, customers, installers and suppliers. You will be responsible for directly liaising with the client and the installation or supply team to ensure the interior is fitted to the desired specifications, on time and within budget.
