Overview

This Degree food and drink advanced engineer (degree) apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 6, integrated degree qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 27/02/2018 and typically takes 60 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Food and drink advanced engineers deliver efficient, effective and high-performance food and drink production processes and systems. You will combine engineering competence with an understanding of the principles of food safety, science and technology. The focus of the role is to design and develop improved production systems, which are safe to operate and environmentally sustainable.

A Food and Drink Advanced Engineer will use advanced production techniques alongside competent project management skills to deliver projects on time, within budget, and at the required specifications and quality.

Daily work involves cooperating closely with a range of other engineers and managers within your organisation, as well as interacting with external equipment and ingredient providers. They contribute to business strategy and performance as leaders of teams.

This apprenticeship standard allows for the development of core knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to achieve a successful career as a Food and Drink Advanced Engineer, as well as the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and skills in one of the following disciplines:
