Fundraiser

Raising funds and encouraging donations for charitable causes

Overview

The fundraiser was approved for delivery on 10/07/2020. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

The broad purpose of a fundraiser is to encourage donations and raise funds for charitable causes. You may also be responsible for raising awareness and non-financial support for the charity. You will work as part of a fundraising team, contributing to and implementing a fundraising strategy, projects and plans.

Duties include responsibility for delivering day-to-day fundraising activities to provide essential income and engagement with supporters; carrying out research for fundraising opportunities; and analysing and providing data to support proposals for developing fundraising activities. You will interact with a range of internal teams, including those in marketing, media and finance, as well as external parties such as the general public and key donors.

The role is typically home or office-based, although you may spend time away from your desk attending and supporting events, meetings with internal or external stakeholders or carrying out research. You will report to the fundraising manager, and at this level are unlikely to have any budgetary responsibilities. This apprenticeship standard is a common entry point for those looking to kick-start their career within fundraising, with potential progression to more senior and managerial fundraising roles.
