Overview

Approved for delivery on the 07/04/2020, the golf course manager, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 5, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

A Golf course manager is responsible for the management of the golf course, resources and staff. You will plan and implement maintenance schedules for the golf course, facilities and equipment, as well as being responsible for the allocation of work, shift patterns, and staff recruitment.

This apprenticeship standard will focus on developing your leadership and management skills. This includes understanding how to promote and maintain a healthy and safe working environment; review and conduct risk assessments; manage conflict between staff; discipline team members when necessary, and motivate staff members to excel in their role. You will be responsible for managing work all aspects of the golf course including machinery and equipment maintenance, weeding and pest control, drainage and irrigation, as well as budgeting and finance.

You will work to ensure the golf course playing surface is of high quality and offers a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience for your customers. You will have excellent customer service skills, and make sure to prioritise customer satisfaction when implementing new strategies or policies. A Golf course manager must be determined to provide an exceptional golfing experience and encourage their staff to work effectively and efficiently to achieve these goals.
