The primary role of a Health and Care Intelligence Specialist is to collect and analyse data on individual or population health and use of healthcare services, to help inform decision-makers across the health and care system. The evidence you provide will influence policy, leading ultimately to an improvement in population health and patient outcomes and experiences.

You will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health care services. You will make an impact at both strategic and operational level by building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.

Depending on the setting where you are employed, you may work alongside clinicians and service providers to support the management of departments and projects, evaluate care, and support research. You will also interact with planners and policymakers, including those with responsibility for public health functions; at national level interaction may be required with government ministers and members of parliament.

You will develop several skills regarding qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and manipulation. You will have a professional attitude, the confidence to interact with senior team members and learn how to present the evidence you collect in a coherent way.
