HM Forces Serviceperson (Public Services)

Overview

This Intermediate hm forces serviceperson (public services) apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 2, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 10/06/2016 and typically takes 12 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

A HM forces serviceperson will operate with the Army, Navy, RAF or Royal Marines. You will perform several activities, ranging from general welfare to humanitarian tasks. Apprentices must demonstrate a high level of commitment, enthusiasm and common sense.

This apprenticeship standard will train recruits with the expert skills, knowledge and abilities to achieve a successful career in HM forces. You will receive the necessary training to ensure you are prepared to work in highly physically and mentally demanding situations and environments, often for prolonged periods.

The technical skills you develop could include safely operating weapons, conducting battlefield drills, performing ceremonial duties, and administering first aid to major and minor injuries. You will demonstrate an understanding of the rules of engagement and the law of armed conflict, ensuring to prioritise the safety of yourself, your team and civilians.

Apprentices must be punctual, reliable and have a strong work ethic. This apprenticeship will kick-start your career with HM forces, with the opportunity to progress to higher qualifications in Service command and leadership.
