Overview
Approved for delivery on the 29/01/2019, the improvement leader, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, non-degree qualification upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
An Improvement leader is responsible for developing improvement strategy, and providing leadership in improvement for the business. Working in a managerial position means that you will also facilitate the coaching and support for Improvement Specialists.
You will work closely with all functions of the business to support the implementation and achievement of business goals, often within the largest-scale and highest priority programmes of work. For example, you identify improvement opportunities that can be scoped into projects delivered by Improvement Specialists or may design new products, processes and services to increase business output and productivity.
The role is typically office-based but could require working where the improvement activities are focussed, such as on the shop floor or at a supplier premises. Common duties include developing processes and resources to support improvement strategy deployment and designing and sourcing training solutions for the business. You will develop skills in leadership and people management, including how to motivate your team and build capability.
