Overview
Approved for delivery on the 27/02/2018, the improvement technician, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 14 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
The course covers improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma, which are used to identify problems, prevent re-occurrence and provide solutions. As a technician, you will engage other team members to work collaboratively to identify improvement opportunities and relevant countermeasures. You will have the knowledge and understanding of team roles and the efficiency of a team formation.
You will gain a working knowledge of problem definitions, which means you will learn to analyse exploratory data, alongside a data collection plan and presentation procedure. This will help you to spot reoccurring statistical problems and implement practical solutions. The course teaches you to understand statistics and measurements in an accessible format so that you can track the productivity of a business quantitatively as well as qualitatively.
The apprenticeship will train you to understand the voice of a customer within a business or organisation, as this will help you to identify potential customers and develop a strategy to meet their requirements. Improvement strategy can range from improving sales to eliminating a wasteful (time or material) process from a production line.
