Infrastructure Technician

An infrastructure technician supports people to feel confident when using technology and IT systems, to problem-solve, aid work-productivity and rectify technological issues.

Overview

The infrastructure technician was approved for delivery on 23/03/2016. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship course teaches you how to assist people with technology ensuring they can perform their job efficiently and productively. Infrastructure technicians set people up on IT systems that they need for their job and use tools to solve any technical issues and troubleshoot non-routine problems that these workers have.

You will learn how to effectively communicate advice and guidance to people with limited technological knowledge. As you will be dealing with colleagues and customers, you will develop professional excellent oral and written communication with a focus on interpersonal skill and cultural awareness.

This communication is coupled with the development of IT skills and security to ensure you are capable of working across multiple complex platforms. The apprenticeship will teach you how to operate a range of mobile devices effectively, so you can utilise them when assisting with IT problems.

Infrastructure technicians are trained in logical and creative thinking to develop IT solutions strategies to any problems that occur. You will be in charge of highlighting these problems and offering helpful, informative solutions for whatever context the IT is used in.
