What the course covers

In this apprenticeship, you will work alongside intelligence collectors, researchers, investigators and operational staff as they deal with intelligence and data. Your role will be to utilise skills such as problem-solving, logic and creativity to analyse their collected information and spot patterns, risks, and trends to create specific intelligence. The kind of data you will be assessing is wide-ranging, including telephone data, surveillance records, opinions, internet data, personal statements and much more. You will keep this intelligence safe and comply with the safety guidelines and regulations.

By using a variety of structured analytical techniques, this course aims to help you produce a clear picture of intelligence related to the industry you are working in. This might be to do with criminal activity and dangerous individuals, or disciplinary areas with knowledge gaps. You then use this intelligence to create oral briefings and written reports so an organisation, such as the police or military, can better understand the threats or risks they face.

This apprenticeship will teach you the legal and efficient intelligence collection and storage methods, and how to apply this knowledge to both sensitive material and public information.
