Overview

Approved for delivery on the 20/04/2018, the international freight forwarding specialist, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship focuses on the processing of international trade documentation and necessary procedures of importing and exporting. Customs legislation can be complex, and organisations must display excellent compliance with the regulations. An International Freight forwarding specialist is employed by an organisation to assure the business can accurately adhere to these regulations. This apprenticeship will train you to have expert knowledge in customs rules, regulations, terms of trade, and to know where to look for the appropriate information, to offer this essential consultancy. You will be responsible for daily tasks, including writing documents, shipment bookings, sales, transport, financial procedures and liaising with other parts of the supply chain, including ports, carriers and handling agents.

The apprenticeship will train you in the core knowledge and skills of International Freight forwarding. Then you will specialise in one of three main areas: Air Freight, Ocean Freight or Road Freight. Each region has its customs procedures, rules and regulations, hence you will train in just one area, depending on your employer type.

The core training will include knowledge of international freight movement, customer service, freight costs, data entry, documentation creation, communication and much more.
