Investment Operations Administrator

The investment operations administrator was approved for delivery on 27/08/2015. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

During this course, you will learn how to complete administrative tasks in the Operations departments of stock exchanges, stockbrokers, investment managers, banks, financial advice and wealth management firms, investment consultant and investment administrative businesses. An apprentice will be able to complete non-complex office-based tasks such as data entry, investigating inaccurate data, compliance and money laundering checks, researching information for projects, communication and correspondence and reconciliation of investment records.

The apprenticeship requires you to be adaptable and confident in new scenarios, so you can act with integrity and honesty even when the situation is complicated. Investment administrators may have some involvement with customers and clients; you will be responsible for handling client information confidentially. The apprentice will develop a basic knowledge of the financial services industry, and what function your organisation has within it. You will learn about security and investment products and how they are used; as well as the systems and tools in place within the financial sector to deliver the desired outcomes.

This is an entry-level role towards professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Financial sector and investment administrator.
