Overview
This Higher investment operations specialist apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 4, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 27/08/2015 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
Similar to an Investment operations administrator, this apprenticeship operates in the operation and administrative areas of the financial sector. It focuses on investment management, investment consulting, and trading, for a variety of clients including individuals, small businesses, pension funds, charities, corporations and governments. The role of an operations specialist is to use their specialist skills to ensure that these transactions are processed, registered, reported and valued to a high standard.
This apprenticeship will train you to be capable of performing complex and specialised activities relating to investment transactions for stock exchanges, investment managers, banks and more. You will be aware of the systems in place within the organisation and the risks associated with an investment; you may also take on a supervisory role in your area of expertise.
Some of the most common daily tasks of investment operations specialists include processing and settling complex investments, calculations of ongoing margins, valuation of investment portfolios, writing investment performance reports, preparing management reports, selection of investment funds and resolving complex issues across the departments.
As an apprentice on this course, you will use your initiative and responsibility to complete tasks and operations, implementing changes and developing your strategy when necessary. You will exercise your judgement with fairness and find ways to resolve issues that may involve other areas of business.
