Overview
This Advanced it solutions technician apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 18/02/2019 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
An apprentice on this course will develop, implement and maintain IT solutions for businesses across the UK. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the style of which will be dependent on the employer. Some teams focus predominantly on a single area of IT solutions such as implementation. In contrast, other teams may cover the whole spectrum of stages within IT solutions. An IT solutions technician will design, develop, test and implement IT solutions. Then subsequently provide ongoing support to the end-user and the IT services as they use the services.
As an IT solutions technician, you will complete tasks across the whole range of IT solutions, working collaboratively on the team’s core tasks. You will then choose whether to specialise in Software or Hardware solutions. Hardware technicians undertake tasks related to the infrastructure of solutions such as servers and networks. Software technician’s complete tasks associated with supporting components of the solutions such as databases.
Both roles will apply a methodology and framework for each task set. They will execute them with professional diligence, for example, when testing a solution for the purpose. Apprentices will apply a range of IT skills to their daily work, for example, file manipulation, changing systems, and system administrating.
