Overview
Approved for delivery on the 23/12/2015, the land-based service engineer, Intermediate apprenticeship standard provides a level 2, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Land-based engineers maintain land equipment, using different tools to complete daily land-tasks in a variety of agricultural settings. This apprenticeship will predominantly take place on the employers’ premises under the correct supervision, and, when safe to do so, on independent tasks.
The various tasks a land-based service engineer may complete include: preparation of new and second-hand machinery, machinery inspections in line with the employer standards, performing routine service and maintenance operations, preparing equipment for repair, i.e. dismantling, cleaning and reassembling machinery components, conducting systems testing and handing overuse of the equipment to other staff members such as senior service engineers.
During the apprenticeship, you will learn to record information accurately and maintain high-quality customer service records through written and digital communication channels. It’s vital apprentices are ready to work in a variety of challenging environments, including outdoor work, which demands a variety of blended skills. You will develop your repair and technical maintenance skills, chemical and thermal metal joining ability and a logical and systematic approach to work.
