Lead Adult Care Worker

Frontline care worker who provides support to vulnerable adults in their own homes or care facilities.

Overview

This Advanced lead adult care worker apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Upon completion of this apprenticeship, apprentices will be qualified to support those adults who have faced physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. The role requires you to assist adults in meeting their personal goals, whether that be independent living or having autonomy over their life choices. Lead adult care workers must recognise the importance of respect and dignity within this role, so the vulnerable adults in your care feel supported in an equal and non-judgemental manner.

Apprentices will make a positive impact on the lives of others, allowing them to live an independent life as possible. Your support will be invaluable to those most vulnerable in society by making judgements and implementing support systems to provide them with the exact care they need. You will provide leadership, guidance and direction in the role to ensure the overall wellbeing of those within your care. At times, lead adult care workers supervise and support a small team of other care workers and can make systematic and procedural decisions.

Apprentices will work in a variety of locations including residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres and some clinical healthcare day centres.
