Overview
The mineral processing mobile and static plant operator was approved for delivery on 06/06/2017. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship aims to train you to operate and maintain heavy plant equipment that is both mobile and fixed. All operations performed by mineral processing mobile and static plant operators must comply with safety legislation and all company policy. Some of the heavy plants that apprentices will be operating includes excavators, dumper trucks and other construction material production plants. These operations are all to support the end-user manufacturer, which might involve ready-mixed concrete, construction products, mortar, asphalt, cement, and others.
The primary responsibilities of apprentices will include carrying out preventative and routine maintenance jobs on all equipment, report plant defects, conduct risk assessment, and report stock availability and quality. You will develop critical skills throughout the apprenticeship such as teamwork and communication, as well as the correct knowledge of all health, safety and environment regulations. Apprentices will need excellent product and operations knowledge as you will be using specialist equipment which can be very expensive.
