Overview

Approved for delivery on the 28/08/2019, the mineral products technician, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 5, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This is an essential role in the hazardous mineral product industry, which focuses on quarrying and deep mining, as it ensures that there are sufficient materials to meet customer demand. The hazardous mineral product industry is the largest element of the construction supply chain as it provides the raw materials needed for infrastructure and building projects.

As a mineral products technician apprentice, you will guarantee there are enough materials to meet customer needs, whilst ensuring health and safety regulations are being followed at all times. Though there is a demand for the quantity of the mineral, you must follow all legislation regarding quality, safety and environment. Apprentices will interact with many other colleagues from both inside and outside their organisations, from all departments and levels, such as managers, contractors, customers, labourers etc.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will take on key responsibilities, these include optimising the effectiveness of your team, continually raise the health, safety and environmental standards of the company, supervising and monitoring all contractors on-site, maintaining plant equipment and completing the inspection and regulatory reports.
