Overview
The new furniture product developer was approved for delivery on 27/09/2019. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 24 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship aims to develop your design and product development skills to create new furniture and improve the design of existing furnishings. The role aims to support your employer to meet the furniture needs of their customers more accurately and efficiently by developing innovative strategies. New furniture product developers work with briefs, using their product and material knowledge, alongside an awareness of legislation, to create new products. You will learn how the whole process works from conception to completion.
An essential skill you will develop within this role is communication and the ability to work productively in a team. New furniture product developers work collaboratively with marketing teams, technical staff, suppliers and manufacturers. As well as these people apprentices should expect to interact with production manufacturing managers, quality technicians, product developers, engineers, purchasers and customers.
The skill of a new furniture product developer is the ability to combine engineering skills and technical awareness, with design and functionality. By doing this, you will be sure to meet both market and production requirements.
