Occupational Therapist (Integrated Degree)

Supporting individuals to participate in meaningful activities within everyday life

Overview

This Degree occupational therapist (integrated degree) apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 6, integrated degree qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 07/12/2018 and typically takes 48 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages, from birth to death, and often work with people who have physical and mental health conditions, injuries, learning disabilities, long-term conditions and palliative care needs. They also work with people who have been displaced from society.

An occupational therapist aims to enable people to participate in meaningful ‘occupations’ within everyday life. Occupations are any activity which people need to do, want to do, or are expected to do, such as work and leisure. Apprentices will need to adopt a therapeutic model of care; by understanding how the mind and body are connected and what a person’s wants and needs are, you will be able to support them to reach achievable personal goals and lead a more fulfilled life.

As an apprentice, you will learn to use clinical reasoning, critical analysis and research-based evidence in your practice. You will use a person-centred approach to help individuals and their families, carers, employers and organisations. This support might be within a variety of settings including health, social care, education and other private and voluntary organisations.
