Overview
This Degree packaging professional (degree) apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 6, integrated degree qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 27/06/2018 and typically takes 48 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
Packaging professionals lead the design, creation and manufacturing of packaging to protect, preserve and promote the product. Packing professionals make packaging for a range of products including food and drink, consumer electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and automotive components.
Within the packaging industry, apprentices can work within many different sectors including filling and packing, design, product manufacture and processing, environmental management, transport and storage, retail, print and chemical manufacture. These sectors are found in companies of all sizes, from small design businesses to global packaging manufacturers; the scope for employment is extensive.
Apprentices will typically work in an office environment; however, it is common for packaging professionals to visit the production site regularly or to explore the customer end of the supply chain. You may be working on a small project related to packing efficiency and space, or a global packaging redesign for a multi-national company.
Some of your daily responsibilities will include generating new packaging products in response to a given brief, ensuring packaging meets legislative requirements, running packaging trials, improving sustainability by minimising the environmental impact of packaging and managing projects to timelines and budgets.
