What the course covers

The primary aim of this apprenticeship is to train apprentices to assist financial advisers in researching, analysing and preparing financial reports for clients. These reports must verify the recommendations made under the company’s investment philosophy. This is a supporting role to financial advisers, and critically you will carry out different tasks and have additional responsibilities. To be successful in this apprenticeship, apprentices should have an excellent knowledge of the structure of the financial services market, and understand how the role of a financial adviser fits into that.

Upon completing the apprenticeship, many apprentices have the opportunity to go to become a senior paraplanner, often with the same employer. Senior paraplanners can provide a higher level of technical support. They may also have more involvement in the business investment strategy and business philosophy.

A critical skill which you will develop throughout the apprenticeship is the ability to comply with the financial service’s regulatory frameworks, and the ethics and essential principles of the advice process. Apprentices must understand the controls and systems that are in place to protect clients and the company.
