Overview
Approved for delivery on the 17/08/2017, the passenger transport driver (bus, coach and tram), Intermediate apprenticeship standard provides a level 2, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 12 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Passenger transport drivers ensure that the millions of people using public transport every day get where they need to be, comfortably and on time. This apprenticeship will prepare you for the safe and efficient use of one type of public transport, such as bus, coach or tram; the kind of transportation you will drive will depend on your employer. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviour to contribute to the running of a high-quality public service.
Some of your day to day duties will include the effective and efficient operation of the vehicle, driving legally and safely at all times, prioritising the safety of passengers and the public at all times and having a great attention to detail in regards to the road and your environment.
It will also be your responsibility to ensure that all passengers and customers understand and comply with the relevant rules of travel. And in return, you must have a good understanding of the diverse range of customers you might encounter, each with different needs, rights and accessibility requirements. To be successful in this role, you must be friendly and compassionate at all times.
