Delivering front-line transport customer services onboard or in stations.

Overview

The passenger transport onboard and station team member was approved for delivery on 23/11/2017. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. What the course covers

This role is positioned within the public transport sector, and it supports the millions of people using busses, trams and coaches for work and leisure across the UK every day. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop the critical skills, knowledge and behaviour to play a successful role in the high quality, accessible and safe running of a transport system. This is predominantly a customer services role, working either onboard the transport itself, or within the station. Apprentices must be friendly and approachable as you will be the first point of contact for any customer issues related to your particular method of transport.

Your primary duty as a passenger transport team member will be to protect the safety of yourself, the customers, passengers and other transport staff. To ensure this safety, you must have an excellent knowledge of the transport operations, including its targets and obligations, the relevant infrastructure and its assets. Some of your day to day responsibilities may include ensuring people board the correct service, ensuring those services are appropriately dispatched, and that the customers have the best possible experience during their journey.
