What the course covers

Passenger transport operations managers ensure that the millions of people using UK transport networks get where they need to be safely and on time, by running the daily operations of these networks. As an apprentice, you may be running the functions of a depot or a transport station, ensuring that both the business objectives are met and that customers travel comfortably and safely. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge skills and behaviour needed to contribute to a high quality and efficient transport service for all.

Some of the critical responsibilities of a passenger transport operations manager are financial and budgeting tasks, day to day operational management, compliance and quality checks and people management. All apprentices will learn to understand the overall operational service, its targets and obligations, and the related transport infrastructure.

There are four primary knowledge areas which are essential to a successful passenger transport operations management apprenticeship; they are safety, quality, customer service and management. You must ensure you are complying with safety regulations, procedures, rules and laws at all times, as well as understanding the range of services on offer and how you could improve their value and quality.
