Overview
The physiotherapist (integrated degree) was approved for delivery on 18/12/2018. This Degree apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 6, integrated degree qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 48 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Physiotherapists use a range of physical and psychological treatment approaches, including movement, exercise and manual therapy, to optimise an individual’s mobility, function and quality of life. You will also provide education and information about health and wellbeing applicable to everyday activities as a way of managing and reducing the risk of pain or injury.
This apprenticeship standard will enable apprentices to develop the expert knowledge and specialist skills needed to excel as a physiotherapist. You will use your comprehensive knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to assess, diagnose and treat people with a diverse range of health problems. This includes treating people with neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, mental health, respiratory conditions, as well as those requiring palliative care. This standard will also focus on the development of leadership and managerial qualities, so apprentices are competent in leading junior team members.
This profession is highly rewarding; you will contribute to the facilitation of an individual’s recovery, enabling them to remain independent for as long as possible. Apprentices will be responsible for ensuring your own knowledge and skills remain up-to-date, ensuring your practice is evidence-based and always maintain your professional competence.
