What the course covers

With the engineering sector being one of the largest in the UK economy, generating over a quarter of the UK’s GDP, this apprenticeship is looking to solve the massive labour shortage.

The engineering sector is so significant to the economy because it is integral to a considerable portion of other industries. To cover this breadth, the apprenticeship will involve working will a variety of generic engineering disciplines. Some of these disciplines include software, mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical, integrated systems and fluid power systems. In turn, the apprentice will have an abundance of career options upon completion.

Post Graduate Engineers will have a varied education. Some of these include understanding theoretical solutions to problems in emerging technologies, understanding a variety of commercial constraints and identifying limitations during the planning of projects. They will also comprehensively adopt a range of skills, including safe working practices, understanding and complying with appropriate legislation, being accountable with expensive and complex technical equipment and projects, as well as working with and assisting a range of colleagues and clients.

The apprentice will have to demonstrate a range of core behaviours. Some of which include comprehensive knowledge and understanding of their sector, being proactive in the design and development phases, responsibility in their actions and leadership, ability to communicate with a variety of colleagues and interest groups, and a professional commitment to their role and industry.
