What the course covers

The Public Sector Compliance Investigator and Officer seeks out any organisation or individual who may be, either by accident or knowingly, evading government regulations or laws. This occupation is unique to the public sector, as they are the only ones who can objectively find and persecute criminal activities.

Day-to-day, the apprentice would approach and investigate a wide variety of individuals or organisations. Most of the time, it will involve checking their documentation to see if it follows regulation and laws, and matches up with any other sources of evidence. This process will require constant interaction with a variety of other professionals or law enforcement agencies, especially if the claim of criminal activity is confirmed. Should an investigation uncover evidence of an individual or organisation of not following regulation or the law, the apprentice must undertake a risk assessment to judge whether this occurred due to negligence or with intent.

To excel in this apprenticeship, you must be confident in your knowledge and authority. Every organisation faced with claims of criminal activity will rebuff them extensively, calling into question your expertise and experience. In these circumstances, the apprentice must be able to remain calm, composed and confident. Additionally, the apprentice’s decisions could have significant consequences for the organisation or individual, so it is of the highest importance that they are honest and objective in their approach to their work.
