Overview
Approved for delivery on the 27/08/2015, the public service operational delivery officer, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 12 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
An Operational Delivery Officer understands the different needs of the public and what services are available to serve them. As such, they will work face-to-face with members of the public, explaining how and where to get the help they need. Additionally, they will communicate to the civil service precisely what the people in their locality require.
Due to the expanse of the civil service, including the number of localities they cover to the services they provide; apprentices have access to a massive variety of potential occupations. As the Public Service Operational Delivery Officer will be assessing and facilitating the needs of the public, they will need to process lots of, often personal, information.
Apprentices will be responsible for sensitive data, interacting with the public, and representing the government, meaning the impression you make and attitude you give off are extremely important. As such, the apprentice must display integrity, honesty, objectivity and impartiality. They must remain professional, communicate effectively and work with helping the public as their number one priority. This occupation also brings a specific level of responsibility, as you are deciding whether or not someone can access certain assistance. As such, the apprentice must remain confident in their judgements, and be thorough in their use of available evidence.
