Overview

This Higher regulatory compliance officer apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 4, qualification. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

A Regulatory Compliance Officer is essential to the functioning of UK business and authorities within the country’s regulations, laws and standards. So that organisations can keep operating as usual, they hire these individuals to ensure their compliance with and implementation of any relevant rules and activities. The apprenticeship does not cover any specific laws or legislation, such that they could be working to ensure companies or local authorities are complying with any range of rules. This includes everything from trading standards to health regulations to fire safety standards.

As such, the daily activities of a Regulatory Compliance Officer vary massively, depending on the customer and the sector. However, there are some general tasks that an apprentice will perform once they are competent. These include assessing an organisation’s current and required compliance, assisting those organisations in meeting the regulations by providing information, advice and data on their business’ performance, conducting audits or risk assessments, and writing and providing reports to all the relevant individuals or experts.

Given the financial and legal impacts of a business’ non-compliance, the apprentice must be confident and communicate well with the company to ensure that they trust and follow the advice.
