Overview

This Advanced safety, health and environment technician apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 29/03/2018 and typically takes 24 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Safety, health and environment technician work with the management and delivery team of an organisation to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements relevant to the business’ operations. Apprentices will learn how to assist the management team in ensuring the implementation of legal and company-specific health, safety and environmental requirements.

Typical activities include work on the development and review of safe workplace systems, delivering training, investigating incidents, analysing data and presenting findings to the management team. You will engage with all aspects of the company to support the safety of the working environment for employees and customers while introducing sustainable systems to protect global land, air and water resources for future generations.

Apprentices will develop the necessary leadership skills to inspire and influence employees to see the benefit of working responsibly, understanding the legal framework and showing how safety, health and environmental management can enhance operational activities. Upon completion of this standard, apprentices will be eligible to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health at Technician level.
