Overview

This Higher school business professional apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 4, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 05/02/2018 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

School business professionals are responsible for administering and managing the financial, site and support services within a school. You will provide essential support to school leadership teams, implementing their financial and business decisions. You may work in any school phase, including primary, secondary and higher.

Daily tasks include drafting and monitoring the school budget, managing the school site to ensure it provides a safe learning environment, managing administrative staff and systems, and ensuring compliance with safe guarding and health and safety policies. You will develop a strong understanding of educational and ethical issues as well as business management to ensure you can effectively communicate with all school stakeholders.

An essential part of this role is working to ensure that public funds are used effectively within the school. You will make the best use of school resources to help ensure all students achieve their full potential. Upon successful completion of this standard, apprentices will be eligible to become a Full Member of the Institute of School Business Leadership. This standard provides an excellent basis for those looking to progress into a senior or strategic role in the school business profession.
