Overview
This Intermediate science manufacturing process operative apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 2, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 27/02/2018 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
Science manufacturing process operatives work to operate and monitor systems, machinery and equipment in the production of products. This includes pumps, valves, temperature gauges, filtration equipment, tanks, and vessels. You may find employment across a range of businesses within the science sector, including companies in nuclear, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products, packaging and polymers.
Apprentices will develop skills to safely operate machines to manufacture, assemble and finish component parts or finished products by hand. You will have to work in compliance with strict health, safety, hygiene and environmental regulations, as well as the requirements of Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) standards. The environment where you work may require you to wear specialist protective equipment to keep yourself and others safe from harm.
You must demonstrate a willingness to look for areas of improvement in the workplace, respond positively to change in your working environment, and accept responsibility for the quality of your work. Apprentices will have to complete work to the agreed manufacturing schedule, work reliably and be punctual.
