Overview
Approved for delivery on the 19/09/2016, the senior compliance and risk specialist, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, non-degree qualification upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
A Senior compliance and risk specialist is responsible for providing advice and financial services to businesses on the legal and regulatory rules they must abide by, such as data security or preventing money laundering. This apprenticeship standard will ensure apprentices are equipped with in-depth underpinning knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures.
The role will likely involve handling complex problems, implementing new legal requirements and liaising with senior managers in the company. This role requires a commitment to strict ethical standards, significant technical expertise, and the capability to influence senior members of the organisation. There can often be differing views on the appropriate action to take, so you must be willing to be firm on your position and able to communicate this to others effectively.
A Senior compliance and risk specialist will provide proactive support and guidance to the business in a specialist area of expertise. For this reason, alongside the core knowledge and skills, apprentices will have the opportunity to specialise in one of the following options:
- Specialist risk
- Financial crime
- Compliance
- Compliance or risk in small organisations
