Overview
Approved for delivery on the 03/07/2020, the serious and complex crime investigator (degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 30 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship standard is within the law enforcement sector, typically employed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, Police Forces, The National Crime Agency, the Financial Conduct Authority or the Ministry of Defence.
You will carry out advanced investigations through research, analysis and planning, relating to local, national or international cases. Many of which would involve the use of covert investigative techniques and technologies to target groups involved with organised crime.
Day to day duties will involve, gathering witness statements and evidence, carrying out lawful searches and where necessary and approved, arrest and interview suspects. You will also interact with other law enforcement agencies to support your work.
Typically this apprenticeship will include a lot of office-based work although there will be times where you will be required to operate outside of this environment. You will be assigned to a designated case team to investigate serious and organised criminal activity, receiving tasks from a Senior Investing Officer. However, you will work independently with limited supervision as well as with other members of your team or designated specialists.
