Overview

The sporting excellence professional was approved for delivery on 07/05/2019. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship requires you to perform consistently and competently in training and competitive environments within your professional sport. This could be within football, cricket, the rugby league and the rugby union.

You will be playing as part of a team that is supported by the likes of a manager, coach, physiotherapists, nutritionists and more. It is your responsibility to have a high level of autonomy when out on the field, and you must be able to cope with extreme levels of pressure.

This apprenticeship will involve representing your employer be that locally, regionally, nationally or internationally, alongside having a daily routine that ensures the continuous skills development needed to perform at the given level.

Your lifestyle will need to reflect the high level of performance you exude, alongside acting as an ambassador for your sport, younger players, fans and the local community, to name a few.

You will be required to identify the next steps within your career relating to playing contracts as well as making a plan for your life after your sporting career.
