Overview
Approved for delivery on the 19/03/2020, the stairlift, platform lift, service lift electromechanic, Intermediate apprenticeship standard provides a level 2, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship can involve working in various environments such as retail, domestic and industrial buildings. You will be required to install, repair or carry out maintenance on stairlifts, lifts and lifting platforms, to ensure they are safe for use and not defective.
The knowledge and skills you will learn will be complex and will relate to a variety of different equipment such as mechanical tractions and hydraulic systems that operate at varying speeds.
You could be required to install new high-tech equipment or fix a slightly older bit of equipment. Whatever it may be, you will need to adhere to safe working practices that meet the standards of the EU Machinery Directive.
After the installation or repair, your work will have to receive a sign off from a designated other Stairlift, Lifting Platform and Service Lift Electromechanic to ensure it is safe for use.
