What the course covers

This apprenticeship covers the teaching of pupils aged 3 to 19 years old and can be based in a variety of settings including primary, secondary, and college environments.

As a teacher, your primary concern is your pupils’ education and you will be responsible for ensuring that you deliver your teaching to the highest standard possible. You must demonstrate high levels of professionalism, and create strong relationships with colleagues, parents and guardians.

Strong subject knowledge is a requirement within this role and you will be responsible for keeping up-to-date with any relevant knowledge and skills. You will use the curriculum to create and deliver interesting and engaging lessons to pupils, using a high standard of literacy and correct English regardless of the subject.

You will need to set homework and plan other out-of-class activities to promote further learning outside of the classroom. It will be essential to reflect on the effectiveness of the lessons you provide on a regular basis to ensure all standards are being met.

As a teacher it is important to manage pupils’ behaviour in the correct manner to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone. You will be required to outline clear rules and expectations for pupils to adhere to, promoting good behaviour in line with the school’s overall policy.
