Overview
Approved for delivery on the 03/05/2018, the textile manufacturing operative, Intermediate apprenticeship standard provides a level 2, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship is based within the textile manufacturing industry and involves the operation of machinery to produce textiles.
This apprenticeship can cover many occupations including, spinning, carding, warping, twisting and other entry level positions within the textile manufacturing industry. As an operative you will report back to a supervisor, technician or line manager within your organisation.
For this role you will need to understand the industry and its heritage and evolution alongside the basics of the supply chain and where your role sits within it. You will be responsible for ensuring consistency of the textile production process in your manufacturing environment, checking, and testing the quality of the finished products.
You must work in line with health and safety regulations and have an understanding of safety processes, management and risk assessments. This will relate to the equipment you use as your role will involve operating, maintaining and monitoring machinery within your organisation. You will need to monitor the speed, feed and material flows to ensure they meet the expectations and standards set.
It will also be important to develop relationships within your working environment to aid effective communication with colleagues and managers helping to ensure that production targets are met.
