Overview

Approved for delivery on the 21/08/2019, the through life engineering services specialist (degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 7, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship is based within the engineering sector, in particular, within industries that depend upon long life, high reliability assets that have high support costs. This can relate to industries such as defence, space, aerospace, transportation, machine tools and the built environment. Assets within these industries may include aircraft, engines, ships, trains and buildings.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering support services that allow engineered assets to work better for longer, at a lower cost. The services you deliver may include design optimisation, maintenance planning, operational health monitoring, fault finding and isolation, inspection, safety testing and compliance, and transportation.

This role will require interaction with asset designers, manufacturers and owners alongside users, maintainers and regulators. Your services will ensure safe, reliable and affordable asset operation possibly from within an office in a remote capacity or hands on support in a physical location.

You will be responsible for a development team, leading, coaching and providing support to further their skills in complex engineering services. You will also manage budgets and resources alongside maintaining compliance with health and safety and organisational regulations.
