What the course covers
This apprenticeship is based within the travel industry and provides the opportunity to specialise in either corporate or leisure travel.
Within this role you will be responsible for delivering sometimes complex travel arrangements, booking accommodation, ancillary services and providing outstanding customer service. Although you have the opportunity to specialise in a particular field, employers look for knowledge and skills that are transferable across the whole of the travel industry.
This will include sound knowledge of geography and a variety of popular travel locations, the understanding of required travel information such as passports, visas, medical safety, foreign office and foreign exchange advice, the variety of travel options available and their features and benefits, alongside legal compliance keeping customers and the business safe.
As a corporate travel consultant, you will take care of unique business traveller needs, tailoring itineraries to make their trip as stress free as possible. This may involve factoring in things like corporate budgets, times and business facilities available. You will be responsible for taking every expense into account, complying with the customer’s corporate policy or choices.
As a leisure travel consultant, you will work within a fast-paced environment, selling experiences and memories to a range of leisure customers. You will match their needs in line with their budget, providing tailor made holidays, package holidays, activity holidays, wedding holidays and more. Within this role it is important to keep ahead of trends to keep up with demand of new and exciting leisure holidays.
